SIMON PARSONS BLADESMITH

Meet the Maker
I am Simon Parsons, a bladesmith based in London, UK
I've always been creative, as long as I can remember. Before turning my hand to bladesmithing I was fortunate to work at the Whitechapel Bell Foundry (the oldest manufacturing company in the UK until it's closure in 2017) in London for 7 years where I learned how to create moulds for casting bronze bells ranging from small hand bells to church bells weighing over 2 tons. For two of those years I also worked in the carpentry workshop, producing oak frames and wheels using traditional joinery methods.
After the closure of the foundry I briefly worked as a prop maker in the retail industry before accepting a job working with swordsmith Owen Bush. This is where my bladesmithing career really took off, learning all of the skills necessary to create the intricately patterned, professionally heat treated and razor sharp blades that you can find on this website.

I’m fascinated with the ancient process of pattern welding steel, taking two different steel alloys and manipulating them to create incredible patterns flowing through the very fabric of a blade. This process was mastered by the people of central and northern Europe during the first millennium AD and I strive to emulate the work created by these ancient masters of their craft.
I’m also a passionate cook and I strive to bring my work into the kitchen through the creation bespoke cutlery. I strive to create not only functional kitchen knives, but beautiful ones too, that elevate your cooking experience.
